Preventing the Introduction and Spread of Invasive Weeds Workshop 2012
Sonora: Monday, April 9, 2012; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Truckee: Wednesday, May 2, 2012; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Event Details: Participants will gain an understanding of how to incorporate prevention best management practices and guidelines into work in the construction, aggregate production and maintenance fields. Valuable resource and materials, available at the workshop will assist participants in environmental stewardship planning and saving money by stopping invasive weeds before they move into a new area.
Intended audience: transportation managers, quarry managers, engineers, project planners and public/private land managers.

2012 INTER-AGENCY WILDLAND FIRE PREVENTION EDUCATION MITIGATION CONFERENCE
The Interagency Fire Prevention/Mitigation/Education Conference will begin on Tuesday, March 20th, 8:00am and will end at 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 22th. The location will be in Southern California at the Pala Spa and Resort, 11154 Highway 76, Pala, California 92059.
The conference is open to all agencies, departments and organizations with fire and public safety responsibilities. Persons with prevention/mitigation, all risk duties and involvement with Fire Safe Councils, Firewise Communities are strongly encouraged to attend.
It is imperative that participants register by March 14th, as a few of the courses on the agenda will have limited space and will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Although, there are no tuition fees, lodging and travel costs must be paid by the attendee or their sponsoring agency.

This guidebook contains science-based principles, processes, and tools necessary to assist with developing adaptation options for national forest lands. The adaptation process is based on partnerships between local resource managers and scientists who work collaboratively to understand potential climate change effects, identify important resource issues, and develop management options that can capitalize on new opportunities and reduce deleterious effects. Because management objectives and sensitivity of resources to climate change differ among national forests, appropriate processes and tools for developing adaptation options may also differ.

Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday July 8th, 2011 signed into law a $150 annual wildfire protection fee for property owners in rural areas of California, even as anti-tax advocates said they are prepared to challenge the way the Legislature imposed the levy.

Notice July 1st deadline-Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act of 2010
SB183 enacts the California Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act of 2010.
This law requires a carbon monoxide device (battery or hard-wired) to be installed in a "dwelling unit intended for human occupancy." A violation is punishable by a maximum fine of $200 for each offense. Owners of residential rental property must also comply with this law. Tenants are responsible to notify the owner of an inoperable or deficient carbon monoxide device. Installation Time Period:
• On or before July 1, 2011 for existing single-family dwelling units
• On or before Jan. 1, 2013 for all other existing dwelling units
